New Technologies to Bring Fiber to the Living Unit and Office

Service providers deploying highspeed broadband to MDUs, homes, and small businesses today favor optical fiber cabling in order to provide the Gigabit speeds subscribers prefer.

Fiber deployment inside residential, and many commercial buildings, has traditionally been expensive, slow, and disruptive due to the lack of existing ducts, pathways, and spaces. Traditional fiber cabling systems often require additional ducts, pathway creation, and space, adding cost and complexity. New fiber and cabling technologies can eliminate the need for expensive pathway creation, support current Gigabit systems, and support many generations of future higher speed systems with no changes to the optical cabling system.

Attendees will gain perspective on what is driving bandwidth demands to gigabit and faster speeds, both downstream and upstream. They will also gain an understanding as to why Fiber to the Living Unit or Office, is the preferred technology to reach highspeed broadband Internet subscribers. In addition, they will learn which kinds of buildings can benefit from new technologies to bring fiber to the residence or office.
