ISE EXPO 2018 began strong on Wednesday, August 15 with a standing-room-only keynote address from Jack Waters, CTO and President, Fiber Solutions, Zayo Group. His keynote presentation title was The Evolution of Fiber Networks.

Jack Waters is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and President of Fiber Solutions at Zayo. In this role, he oversees global technology and fiber solutions strategy and execution. He is also involved in all aspects of the business and is directly engaged with Zayo’s strategic customers, technology vendors and alliance partners.
Prior to joining Zayo, Jack was CTO at Level 3 Communications, where he was focused on global network technology, architecture, engineering, process and security. He joined Level 3 in 1997 and held numerous leadership roles within the company, spanning global operations and engineering.
Before joining Level 3, Jack served as an executive staff member for MCI Communications, Inc. with responsibility for network architecture, design and implementation. He was an original member of the team responsible for InternetMCI, the company’s initial Internet service. Prior to MCI, Jack served as director of engineering and operations for SURAnet, the Southeastern University Research and Academic Network.
Jack serves on the FCC’s Technical Advisory Council and the board of directors for the Colorado Technology Association. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University and a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
