A Way of Being

March 1, 2022
Taking many small steps makes it more possible to achieve really big, lofty goals – especially when the path to get there is not as obvious as these ladders make it appear. […]

I was at a family party several months, ago. It was shortly after several of my siblings, their adult children, and my family, had been vaccinated. We had not had a family get together in well over a year, and it was nice to finally have the chance to all be in the same space for a weekend.

It was during this party, when my nephew-in-law was talking about how impressed he was how fast his wife finished her work and was able to get back to helping him with their two toddlers. He went on and on about this for several minutes, way past the time when gushing is comfortable for the recipient. He then brought it up several more times. It obviously had a significant impact on him. As here they were, both sequestered working from home for months on end, with their toddlers, where he got to observe first-hand how she worked, and the impact her approach had on his life.

My brother chimed in, "Michelle this sounds a lot like you." My fast-paced-get-it-done approach to life, after 35+ years of working this way, is legendary. Working like I do, is not just something we teach at Cheetah Learning – it’s a way of being.

So, why is my niece so efficient at her work as well? She was in the Marketing department, eventually working her way to being the Marketing director at Cheetah Learning for nearly a decade before she decided to spread her wings and go see what life was like outside of her aunt’s business. She had learned first-hand the impact of being able to finish your work Cheetah FAST so that you could move onto something else you wanted (or needed) to be doing in your life.

As most people with young children know, we don’t have the luxury of time when juggling children’s needs with a career. Becoming super-focused and efficient with work projects becomes an urgent necessity when you have a career and you need to be there for your young family. I mastered our Project Manager skills so they became my natural way of being – it’s what enabled me to growing Cheetah Learning to the global leader in Project Management education while my children were still in elementary school. Like my niece, my children are grown now, super-efficient and moving up fast in their careers too. While learning how to do Project Management can help your career – it’s about learning how to BE a Cheetah Project Manager that creates an amazing life.
