Key Highlights

  • Achieved more than 1 million fiber passings annually for two consecutive years.
  • On track to reach approximately 4 million fiber locations by year-end.
  • Backed by a combination of private investment and over $860 million in local, state, and federal broadband funding.

Brightspeed announced that it has surpassed three million fiber-enabled locations across its 20-state service area. The milestone follows two consecutive years in which the company built more than one million fiber passings annually. Brightspeed continues its efforts to expand high-speed internet access, with a stated goal of reaching more than five million homes and businesses across its footprint.

"Our second straight year of one million passings highlights the strength and predictability of our build engine," said Brightspeed CEO Michel Combes. "In a short time, we've transformed our network and dramatically expanded our reach by bringing next-generation connectivity to three million locations and counting."

Combes continues, "This puts us firmly on track to reach four million homes by the end of this year and accelerates our goal to exceed five million fiber-enabled locations across our footprint—scaling efficiently to maximize long-term returns."

The company said its ongoing network expansion is intended to improve access to broadband services in areas that have had limited connectivity options.

"I'm incredibly proud of the teams and partners making this progress possible by delivering this kind of sustained momentum," said Brightspeed Executive Vice President of Operations Kristy Harrison. "Building at this pace for a second straight year takes coordination, discipline, and an unwavering focus on execution."

Brightspeed Fiber Internet uses Wi-Fi 7 technology and offers gig-speed service plans designed to support multiple connected devices, including for streaming, gaming, remote work, and online learning.

In addition to its private investment in fiber infrastructure, Brightspeed has received more than $860 million in local, state, and federal broadband funding. The company said these funds, combined with its own investment, will support expansion of its network by more than 338,000 additional locations.
