NVIDIA and Corning Incorporated announced a multiyear commercial and technology partnership focused on expanding U.S.-based manufacturing of optical connectivity solutions that support next-generation AI infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Corning plans to increase its U.S. optical connectivity manufacturing capacity tenfold and expand domestic fiber production capacity by more than 50% to address growing demand associated with AI data center deployments. The company stated that the expansion will include three new advanced manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas and is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.

Corning's expanded manufacturing capacity will support optical connectivity requirements for hyperscale data centers deploying NVIDIA-accelerated computing systems. Large-scale AI workloads require extensive high-performance optical fiber and photonics technologies to facilitate high-speed data transmission across thousands of GPUs and interconnected systems.

Corning, known for its work in optical fiber and glass science technologies, said the investment is intended to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and support the continued growth of AI infrastructure in the United States.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang said the growth of AI infrastructure is creating new opportunities for U.S. manufacturing and supply chain expansion, adding that the collaboration with Corning will focus on advancing optical technologies for AI computing systems.

Corning Chairman, CEO, and President Wendell P. Weeks said the partnership is expected to contribute to the expansion of the company’s U.S. manufacturing footprint and workforce while supporting the development and production of technologies used in AI infrastructure.
