The Apex® X-1 Sealed Splice Closure is the newest and smallest member to AFL’s Apex family of sealed splice closures. In the broadband telecommunications infrastructure sector, it has revolutionized the industry’s approach to fiber deployment. As the most compact sealed dome splice closure in its class, this latest design balances size optimization with exceptional performance, supporting up to 144 single fusion, 432 mass fusion with standard ribbon, or 864 mass fusion with “rollable ribbon” fiber types such as AFL’s SpiderWebRibbon® (SWR®).

AFL's internet service provider customers would find this closure perfect for local small networks and rural FTTx applications where reliability and efficiency are needed. Based on the same trusted technology that powers the larger Apex models (X-2, X-2S, X-3, and X-3H), this more compact solution delivers enterprise-grade protection while addressing the challenges of rural fiber deployment.

As technology demands grow, so does the need for fiber deployments and particularly in rural and underserved areas. The Apex X-1 enables the industry to deliver high-quality fiber deployment while maintaining operational efficiency and high standards.

Factors that make the Apex X-1 stand out among it's competitors include:

  • The wedge entry system requires no tools except a can wrench to turn the gel compression after the cable is installed giving installers an advantage of speed and ease of use.
  • The universal splice trays offer better slack management as the trays are depth optimized for rigid ribbon, Spider Web Ribbon or loose fiber and the industry leading splice density—especially when coupled with Spider Web Ribbon.
  • Others in the market—at this price point and size—have a much lower slice count while the Apex X-1 leads the industry in splice density.

Key features include:

  1. Individual cable sealing ports with tool-less release mechanism and gel sealing.
  2. Hinging, lockable splice trays.
  3. Plastic slack storage basket with convenient multiple tie-down points with velcro or tie wraps.
  4. Splice trays with universal splice modules capable of holding single fusion, mass fusion and mechanical splices as well as other devices such as passive optical splitters.
  5. Capable of up to 8 drop cables with an expressed distribution cable using multi-drop entry kits.
  6. Four cable ports with up to 3 ground lugs.
  7. Dome-to-base O-ring seal retained into dome to prevent loss or damage, but is still replaceable if necessary.

Nice evolution of this product. Great combination of small size and straightforward cable and splice management. Sealing the closure and the individual fiber ports is easy for field forces and reliable.
