Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments are expected to reach record numbers this year, driven by unprecedented demand for Gigabit Broadband. Any Communications Service Provider (CSP) building FTTH also has a bonus opportunity to bring the fiber to the high-density of prospective subscribers’ multiple dwelling units (MDUs). For either MDUs or single family FTTH builds, a cost-effective and compact Optical Network Terminal (ONT) can be placed inside each living unit to enable Gigabit or even 10 Gigabit connectivity that brings ROI to both the service provider and property owner.

However, there is a challenge to place fiber inside MDUs or homes as there are typically no existing fiber ducts or pathways to the ONT location, and placing ducts in existing buildings or homes can be very expensive. Traditional fiber cabling systems were not designed or intended to be used inside MDUs or homes. FTTH service providers often deploy ONTs deep within subscribers’ units to facilitate Wi-Fi coverage, presenting both aesthetic and installation challenges. Tight spaces, sharp corners, and architectural features can create barriers to indoor fiber deployment. Fortunately, new faster, virtually invisible, and easier to deploy solutions are now available and proven to overcome these specific challenges and, as a result, have been widely adopted by CSPs.

Join us to learn the benefits of bringing optical fiber to and into MDUs and homes, and the latest technologies to cost effectively deploy fiber-from-the-curb all the way to the indoor ONT.
