As industrial organizations increasingly connect operational technology (OT) with enterprise IT, cloud platforms, remote-access systems, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies, their cybersecurity challenges are becoming more complex.

Legacy assets, expanded connectivity, and remote access can create new attack surfaces. In OT environments, however, the consequences of a cyberattack can extend beyond data loss to production disruption, safety concerns, equipment damage, and interruptions to critical operations. These risks are driving demand for cybersecurity strategies designed specifically for industrial environments.

Cognizant and CrowdStrike have expanded their collaboration to introduce Cognizant Cybersecurity for Operational Technology, an OT security service powered by CrowdStrike Falcon for XIoT. The offering combines Cognizant's industrial engineering and managed security expertise with CrowdStrike's capabilities for visibility and protection across XIoT and IT environments.

The service is designed to provide OT asset discovery and visibility, threat detection and response, vulnerability and attack surface management, identity and data protection, and governance and compliance. It also incorporates 24x7 managed security operations to help organizations monitor and respond to threats while minimizing disruption to industrial processes.

The collaboration follows an "assess, architect, act and assure" lifecycle across six OT security domains, supporting organizations from asset discovery through ongoing security management.

As the boundaries between IT and OT continue to narrow, industrial organizations will need cybersecurity approaches that balance stronger threat protection with the availability, safety, reliability, and continuity of critical operations.
