CyberPower UPS Systems Recognized by Wirecutter for Home Backup Power

Wirecutter recognizes two CyberPower UPS systems for home backup power, highlighting their capacity to support Wi-Fi routers and other electronics during outages.

Key Highlights

  • CyberPower’s LE1000DG and CP1350AVRLCD3 UPS systems were recognized among three recommended systems for keeping home networks and essential electronics operational during power outages.
  • The LE1000DG delivers 1,000 VA/530 W of capacity, with 12 outlets, including six battery-backed outlets, and reported runtime of up to three hours for a modem and router drawing 20 W.
  • The CP1350AVRLCD3 provides 1,350 VA/815 W of capacity, 12 outlets, USB-A and USB-C ports, and a backlit display. Wirecutter reported up to 4.5 hours of runtime for an average modem and router.

Cyber Power Systems (USA), Inc. announced that two of its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, the CyberPower LE1000DG and CP1350AVRLCD3, were recognized by Wirecutter, the product review and recommendation site operated by The New York Times, in its evaluation of UPS systems for home use during power outages.

The two models were among three UPS systems selected by Wirecutter for their ability to keep Wi-Fi routers and other essential home electronics operating during power interruptions.

According to the company, Wirecutter evaluated hundreds of UPS systems from leading power protection manufacturers as part of its review. The publication’s assessment considered several criteria, including automatic voltage regulation (AVR), surge protection, power capacity, runtime under load, user-replaceable batteries, and power management software.

“We are honored to receive accolades from Wirecutter for two of our UPS systems—one as a go-to mid-tier backup solution and another as a heavy hitter for more robust home office setups,” said Brent Lovett, President of CyberPower. “Consumers need to reliably protect their equipment from power outages and surges, and both of these UPS systems provide exceptional value and performance.”

CyberPower LE1000DG: Home Network Backup

The CyberPower LE1000DG was selected as Wirecutter’s top pick for home network backup, particularly for short-term power outages. The review highlighted features including a user-replaceable battery and AVR, which helps regulate incoming voltage and can reduce battery wear caused by voltage fluctuations.

The unit has a rated capacity of 1,000 volt-amperes (VA) and 530 watts (W). It includes 12 outlets, six of which provide battery backup, and measures approximately 12 × 7 × 3.5 inches.

Based on Wirecutter’s testing, the LE1000DG can power a modem and router drawing up to 20 W for approximately three hours. Under a 300 W load, the reported runtime was approximately 12 minutes.

CyberPower CP1350AVRLCD3: Higher-Capacity Backup

The CyberPower CP1350AVRLCD3 was recognized as an upgrade option for larger home electronics setups and applications requiring longer backup runtimes.

The mini-tower UPS has a rated capacity of 1,350 VA and 815 W. Its features include 12 outlets, six with battery backup; two USB charging ports, one USB-A and one USB-C; and a backlit display that shows estimated remaining battery runtime and the total wattage of connected equipment.

In its review, Wirecutter reported that the CP1350AVRLCD3 could power an average modem and router for up to 4.5 hours. With additional equipment connected, the review cited a runtime of approximately 21 minutes.

The two models address different home backup requirements, from maintaining connectivity during brief power interruptions to supporting larger equipment loads. Their recognition reflects the continued role of UPS systems in protecting electronics and maintaining access to home networks during power disruptions.
