SmartTag Adoption Climbs in U.S. Broadband Households

March 11, 2025
US broadband households report an increase of SmartTag usage—12% owning one of these devices, up from 7% in 2022, according to Parks Associates.

Parks Associates' latest research from the Tech Ecosystem Dashboard service highlights the adoption of SmartTags, with 12 percent of U.S. broadband households reporting owning one of these devices, up from 7 percent in 2022. Consumers use SmartTags for "convenience, security, and tracking, helping them easily locate lost items, automate daily tasks, and streamline access to digital services," said the company.

"These small, inexpensive devices help consumers find lost or frequently misplaced items such as keys, wallets, luggage, and remote controls, as well as loved ones, like children and vulnerable older adults. They deliver valuable peace of mind and convenience," said Jennifer Kent, VP, Research, Parks Associates.

Parks Associates research shows Tile, the "category originator," is still a top competitor in the SmartTag market but Samsung recently surpassed Tile to take second place in terms of purchases.

So who is the top brand? That would be Apple, with its AirTag taking 69 percent of recent SmartTag purcahses "Predictably, iPhone users prefer to use Apple's AirTags. Android users prefer to use Samsung Galaxy tags but also like to branch out and use other brands such as Tile, Chipolo, and Orbit," said the company in a press release.
