The company behind Google Fiber is formally adopting the name GFiber. The organization has used “GFiber” as a shorthand name for more than a year, and this change reflects a shift to using that name consistently.

The rebranding does not affect the company’s services or product offerings. GFiber will continue to provide multi-gig internet service, with a focus on network performance, reliability, pricing transparency, and customer support.

Originally developed in Mountain View and first launched in Kansas City, GFiber began as an effort to expand access to high-speed fiber internet. GFiber has since expanded to multiple markets across the United States and continues to develop its residential internet offerings.

“GFiber is a reflection of our brand’s personality—fast, easy, and always looking ahead,” said Melani Griffith, Chief Growth Officer. “For the last eight years, this management team has focused on building an internet service designed to meet customer expectations, and we plan to continue that work.”

The name change comes as the company reports continued growth and positive customer satisfaction results. GFiber has received the highest ranking in customer satisfaction for residential wired internet service in the South region from J.D. Power for three consecutive years (2023–2025).

GFiber currently offers several service tiers with symmetrical upload and download speeds, including 1 Gig, 3 Gig, and 8 Gig plans. Equipment such as Wi-Fi 7 routers and mesh extenders are included with Home and Edge plans.

The company states that its pricing model includes no contracts, no data caps, and no additional fees for standard equipment or installation. It also applies the same pricing structure to new and existing customers.

To support increasing bandwidth demand, GFiber has upgraded its network infrastructure to 25 Gig passive optical network (PON) technology. The company says this upgrade is intended to support current and future internet usage needs.
