Fiber Broadband Association Announces 2027 Regional Fiber Connect Workshop Schedule
Key Highlights
- The Fiber Broadband Association announced eight Regional Fiber Connect workshops across the United States and Canada, with regional themes addressing key fiber infrastructure priorities.
- Sessions will explore AI, data centers, quantum networking, edge computing, rural broadband, and construction innovation.
- Each will include a Policy Lab and workforce development workshop focused on broadband policy, community connectivity, and technical skills for the fiber industry.
The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) has announced the locations and themes for its 2027 Regional Fiber Connect workshops, a series of events focused on challenges and developments across the fiber infrastructure industry. Topics will include fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), data center development, Quantum networking, rural broadband, construction innovation, and other emerging industries and enterprises.
The workshops bring together fiber infrastructure leaders and regional stakeholders to discuss deployment strategies, industry best practices, and lessons learned. Agendas will feature perspectives from local network operators, officials, and community organizations, with programming tailored to regional infrastructure priorities.
The 2027 series will address two key areas of industry development: expanding broadband access to underserved communities and preparing fiber networks to support growing demand from digital applications. Increased investment in AI, data centers, and edge computing is driving demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity. Meanwhile, permitting processes, construction costs, workforce development, and access to middle-mile infrastructure continue to influence broadband deployment.
"Communities are making infrastructure decisions today that will shape their economic opportunities for decades," said Jessica Koch, FBA Conference Committee Chair. "Success requires collaboration among operators, policymakers, community leaders, and a skilled workforce. The Regional Fiber Connect workshops bring these groups together to tackle local challenges and build networks that serve today's needs while creating room for what comes next."
2027 Regional Fiber Connect Schedule
FBA has announced the following workshop locations, dates, and focus areas:
- Washington, DC | February 1–2: Data Centers, Neocloud
- Toronto, Ontario | March 22–23: Canadian Fiber Infrastructure
- Portland, Maine | April 19–20: Rural Broadband
- Madison, Wisconsin | July 12–13: Construction Innovation
