Be Your Own Hero
Why do people leave their jobs? For a few, money is the only thing that matters. Others have several criteria that keep them blissfully employed. According to www.thebalance.com, these 5 reasons are why employees quit their jobs.
1. Relationship With the Boss
Employees don’t need to be friends with their boss but they should have a comfortable relationship with him/her. A toxic boss/employee relationship undermines the employee’s engagement, confidence, and commitment.
2. Bored and Unchallenged by the Work Itself
Since they spend more than a third of their days working, getting ready for work, and transporting themselves to work, people want to contribute, create, and perform.
3. Relationships With Coworkers
Coworkers with whom an employee collaborates are critical components of an employee’s work environment. Poor relationships with coworkers can make work a stressful place.
4. Opportunities to Use Their Skills and Abilities
Employees like when they participate in activities they are good at; they also want to develop and grow their skills. If they’re not able to do this in your company, they’ll find one where they can.
5. Contribution of Their Work to the Organization’s Business Goals
Employees need to understand how their role contributes to the overall strategy and business of the organization. Employees need to feel they are part of an effort that is larger than just their job.
Why do I mention these things? Because an educational event like ISE EXPO 2018 can help you deliver on items 1, 3, and 4. Check out www.iseexpo.com and ask your team members which seminars, keynotes, and demos, they’d like to attend. Then, deliver on their wishes by helping them get to the event. And if you attend WITH them, you could carve out a little time to address items 2 and 5. Early Bird Registration opens this month and is complimentary for qualifying ICT employees through May 31!
Come on. We can’t make it any easier for you. All you have to do is take action. Or, wait. Maybe you really DO like holding exit interviews and farewell lunches.
