-
AI supports everyday productivity: 50% use AI weekly to summarize information, while 46% use it to write or edit text.
Consumers are placing the greatest value on artificial intelligence when it delivers practical, measurable benefits—particularly when it helps them save time, according to new research from Parks Associates.
The firm's AI Experience Consumer Insights Dashboard finds that 54% of AI users in U.S. internet households rank saving time among AI's five most valuable benefits. Eighteen percent identify "saves me time" as the single most valuable benefit—twice the percentage selecting any other AI function measured.
The findings are based on Parks Associates' quarterly survey of 8,000 U.S. internet households and highlight a growing emphasis on AI's ability to help consumers complete tasks faster, learn more efficiently, make decisions, and improve productivity.
"Companies need to show how AI makes tasks easier, improves productivity, or helps consumers make better decisions," said Jennifer Kent, SVP and Principal Analyst at Parks Associates. "These benefits will help determine which AI experiences consumers continue to use and ultimately pay for."
AI is Becoming a Time-Saving Tool
Consumers are already turning to AI for a broad range of everyday activities. Among AI users surveyed:
-
63% use AI weekly to research topics.
-
50% use AI weekly to summarize information.
-
46% use AI weekly to write or edit text.
-
30% use AI weekly to create social media content.
-
32% use AI weekly to generate images or videos.
The findings come as generative AI continues to expand its reach. Parks Associates reports that 63% of U.S. internet households now use generative AI, while 22% pay for AI services.
As adoption grows, the research suggests that consumers are increasingly focused on what AI can accomplish for them rather than on the technology itself. Time savings, faster learning, streamlined recommendations, decision support, and greater productivity represent tangible outcomes that can become part of the everyday consumer experience.
"Consumers are looking for practical results from AI," Kent said. "Saving time, learning faster, simplifying recommendations, supporting decisions, and improving productivity are tangible benefits that companies can build into the consumer experience."
