Vonage Debuts Silent Authentication and SIM Swap APIs to Fight Rising Digital Fraud
Key Highlights
- identity-related fraud impacts 84% of U.S. businesses and 77% of Americans report encountering scams.
- The Network APIs give developers access to carrier-verified trust signals for advanced, invisible fraud detection.
Vonage, a part of Ericsson, has announced the commercial launch of its fraud-prevention Network APIs across the United States. The company reports being the first to bring Silent Authentication and SIM Swap to the nation's largest carrier networks.
The company further reports that the new APIs will give developers direct access to carrier-verified trust signals from mobile networks which will enable invisible fraud detection. Enterprises can access previously unavailable insights by tapping intelligence embedded within mobile networks.
The need for secure and frictionless digital interactions has greatly increased with identity-related fraud impacting 84% of U.S. businesses and 77% of Americans encountering a scam in the past year.
The Silent Authentication enables secure in-app user verification by validating a user’s phone number, eliminating the need for SMS one-time passcodes (OTPs), which are vulnerable to interception attacks. According to Vonage, their customers have seen three to five times faster authentication and up to eight percentage points higher conversion rate compared to SMS OTP.
"Leveraging real-time network intelligence, our APIs enable developers to embed cutting-edge fraud prevention capabilities and identity verification within applications, enabling enterprises to mitigate an increasingly complex fraud landscape and provide their end users with frictionless digital experiences," said Christophe Van de Weyer, President and Head of Business Unit API, Vonage.
